When Nightmares Come True

One chilly quiet evening just after the moon had risen above the mountains, cold shivers traveled down my spine and shook my body into an instant chill. Flynn was already deeply worried about me that morning because he knew what was going to happen. He was a dreamer and could see through the dreams and into the future.
It was on a night quite like this one that happened in a dream I had had months before. He knew every detail about the dream and was prepared for what was to happen, but he was worried that I was going to be in trouble. He wanted to make sure I was prepared for whatever happened. I told him not to worry because with him there, nothing could go wrong. I may have been overconfident of everything, but this wasn't anything strange coming from someone so young.
We stood outside on the front porch and waited for the time to pass as the cool breeze blew against our skin. Bumps formed on our skin as we shivered in the crisp autumn air. Flynn wrapped his arms around me and pulled me close, trying to keep me warm. He kissed me on the cheek and squeezed my sides a little.
I turned away as I sighed and looked toward the pitch black road in front of the house. I was afraid and nervous. Flynn looked at me, then he took my hand and placed it on my heart.

He spoke softly, "Listen to your heart beat. It's running fast. Take a deep breath and calm down."
As I took a deep sigh and tried to calm down, Flynn wrapped his arms around me and stayed closely behind my back. We stood still in the silence of the night as the bats chirped in the distance and wind blew through the weak willow branches. I could feel his energy pulsing through mine. We were connected together and I could feel our hearts beating in sync. Unfortunately, that peace didn't last long...
Damion showed up, as expected from the dream, unannounced and dressed in the same clothing that he was in months before when I had last seen him.
Damion stood in silence, awaiting my presence. Flynn signaled me to stay behind him for a moment and stood in front of me with his hand on his hip. Flynn cleared his throat and began to speak,

"Hello. How can we help you? Do you need something?" Flynn asked Damion in a stern voice.

Damion finally broke his silence and said, "I'm here to speak to her."

I sighed and stood up straight as I began my descent down the stairs.
It took me a moment before I could get myself to actually go talk to him. I hadn't forgiven Damion for what he had done and I didn't want to leave Flynn's side, but I knew I had to do this. Flynn looked toward me and whispered for me to be strong. I took another deep breath.
I slowly walked down the stairs as I tried not to hesitate.
"Damion what do you want? Why have you come back?" I asked him.

"You told me that if I wanted to find you, I could. I have been looking for you, but I see you don't need me!" he began to shout.

"Excuse me, I told you that I might not take you back. It's not like you tried to take care of me! You have been gone months!" I said sternly.

"I can't believe you already have another guy! I didn't even, nor ever have taken someone else over you! You are such a lousy woman!" he replied. I could sense he was beginning to grow more angry.

"Oh come on! You can't pull this crap on me right now. Look I am well taken care of now and happy. You never left me with anything, but myself. You need to just accept it! I am 18 years old now and as a grown woman, I can take care of myself now!" I stated.

"Fine, take care of yourself, but just remember, I won't be your back-up guy!" he replied.
"Oh don't worry I won't be looking to you, ever... but oh, I have one more thing to tell you... I am pregnant," I said as I looked toward my stomach.

"What-t-t?! YOU SLUT! Can't believe you'd go and get pregnant so soon! Geez! ARE you telling me because you think I'm the father?" he said as he began furious and lashed out at me.

Flynn stayed back because he knew I had to deal with this, plus it was all in the dream. And if anything happened, he was right there and would jump down and protect me.
"JOVIANA! Well, am I the father? How far along are you?" Damion yelled.

"I don't know! A few months! It could be either of you!" I screamed.

"Ugh!" Damion shouted.
Damion paused for a moment before he stopped freaking out and put his hands down. I was scared for my life, but kept myself together. I hoped that he wouldn't hurt me...
He just looked at me in the eyes and then before walking away, he said, "Whatever, good luck."
And he was gone, probably for good. Flynn and I didn't need him to come around anyway...
I was disappointed and slightly heartbroken because I had to go through with a situation like that...
I never wanted to hurt Damion in such a way, but sometimes, things go the way we least expect them...

OH Baby! The Joys of Life Together!

Everything had been pretty quiet at the house with Flynn and I.
We spent most of the time either together or outside enjoying the
fresh mountain air. We were very close and did enjoy the fruits of
life along with a strong healthy relationship. I was the happiest with
Flynn by my side; whether I was asleep or awake, he was there.
One day, when we were inside and spending time together cuddling
on the bed, I had a few questions for Flynn, but he had other ideas
than to talk right away...
so afterward...

I finally got to talk about what was on my mind... it was about our futures.
"Hey, are we going to have kids? Do you want kids? Or are we just going
to follow the way that we see it in our visions? Like according to plan or
by what we desire? I would like to have kids, anytime really!" I asked.
Flynn laid there listening to everything I asked and then thought for a
moment before saying, "Don't worry, I want kids! We see our futures,
but we can change them as time goes on! Sometimes we live by what
fate has decided, but other times, we are in control! That's how life is!
We make decisions and the consequences bear their fruits, good or bad."

"Oh I am so glad you feel the same way! I LOVE YOU!" I smiled.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The following week, I was having unusual symptoms and I noticed that
I had gained weight along with mood swings, nausea, and food cravings.
I hadn't had a menstrual cycle in sometime, but since I was so young
and somewhat clueless to my body, it didn't seem strange. I had a suspicion
that I might be pregnant, however, I didn't really know what that was like.

"Flynn, I think I'm pregnant! But I don't know anything about pregnancy.
Have you noticed anything different about me?" I asked as I leaned against him.
He held me and paused to think. As he looked down at me, he smiled and said,
"Yes babe, you are. This isn't weight gain as if you were fat. YOU are growing
a life inside you! Plus you have been off your period for almost three months now!"
His smile became a grin that spanned across his entire face as he thought
about us having a baby. He moved his hands down my body to my hips
and leaned down as he looked into my eyes. I held my hands to my stomach
and watched as he caressed my sides. His eyes sparkled with happiness and
something weird happened... I felt a kick. He gave me a puzzled look and wondered
what had happened. There was no way the baby could have kicked this early in pregnancy!

I became worried when we discovered this and Flynn had nothing to say at
first. He tried to encourage me that it was fine, but he was here for me and
things would be okay. We didn't have any way to go to a doctor due to
the fact that I was hiding away and had to be careful. As far as finding out what
was going on, there was nothing we could do except speculate about the baby.
"Flynn, is it possible I am further along than two or three months along?" I asked him.
"It's possible, but we won't know until the baby grows more. You should make sure
you eat more to keep up with the baby's growth. I don't want either of you sick!" he replied.

We stared at each other for a few seconds about what was happening.
We said we were ready for a baby and this pregnancy seemed easy at
first, but the longer we thought about it, it seemed we were not ready yet.
Without proper consulting from a doctor, we were on our own and had
to deal with the possibility of losing the baby if something went wrong.

"Okay, babe... Let's not stress out because that's the last thing we need.
We will take this one day at a time. Does that sound okay with you?" he asked.
"Yea, as long as you are along for the ride!" I smiled a big grin, "Are ya?"
"ALWAYS!" he exclaimed, "I am always ready for a challenge, I mean I
found my way to you over time and space, pregnancy shouldn't be a hardship!"

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

About a couple weeks later, I started to show my baby bump even more.
Everything was calm for the most part, except when the baby kicked and
moved around in my womb. It was sometimes so painful, I'd spend all day
inside laying down in bed. Flynn was always cooking and cleaning the house
while I was bedridden. The pregnancy was more difficult than I had anticipated...
One cool evenings, I was able to go outside and enjoy the weather,
but according to Flynn, I was supposed to stay by him at all times
and was never go anywhere without him, even the bathroom...
He was a bit overprotective, however, it was all for a good cause.
He didn't want me or the baby hurt and he seemed to know something
was going to happen. I trusted him, unlike Damion, and I let him be at my
side whenever he wanted to. I'd rather have someone trailing me and want
to make sure I was okay than to have someone who doesn't care to stay.

I just hoped that nothing horrible was supposed to happen...
I didn't think I could handle any kind of chaos or tragedy...
What did Flynn know? Was it Damion?
Or something wrong with the baby?!

A Tale Of Love

A couple months later, after Flynn and I moved into a house he bought
just down the street from where I had stayed in the woods. It was a quiet
place still secluded in the forest. I loved the time I spent with him. He made sure
I had food in my stomach and a warm bed to sleep in every night. I gained weight
and started to fill in my cheeks and had a healthy glow. For the first time in my life,
I had the proper nutrition and diet that an adult woman was supposed to have.

One afternoon, Flynn and I were outside enjoying the late spring breeze.
"Flynn, I know you know this, but I can't stop saying how thankful I am
that you are here with me and how wonderful you are. I love you so much.
For the first time, I truly know what love is. I love being by your side and in
your arms. I can't stop thinking about how I couldn't be without you," I said to him.
"Oh darling, I love you. I will always be here to hold you in my arms,
in times of sadness, in times of happiness, or in times of chaos. I am
here and will be yours forever. Don't you ever worry about being alone
again, you hear? You shall always be with me. By your side!" he reassured me.

I gazed into the horizon of the low lying sun and combed my fingers
through his soft fine hair and laid my head on his shoulder as he held
me close to him. I wish I could have had that moment last forever...

As I let go of Flynn's shoulders and settled comfortably in his arms
with my hands wrapped around his neck, he whispered softly in my ear,
"Darling, I have a story for you. Would you like me to tell you?"
I nodded yes and he began his story...

There once was a beautiful cream colored unicorn with a luscious
bright orange mane and a sharp colorful blue-violet and white horn.
Every night she would stand by the edge of the waterfall where
she lived and stare at her reflection in the moon-lite water.
As she stared into the water, she watched her gorgeous glowing fur
as it shimmered and danced on the water. She thought she must
be beautiful, but why hadn't she found true love? She was so lonely.
She just wanted someone to be by her side and to love her for all she was.
Even though she was a unicorn, she wanted someone to love her...

But one question remained, how?
How could she find love?
The unicorn started to sob and cried out a loud roar. She was so lonely.
She wanted to find her true love. It wasn't fair that she was forced to
live without the affection and adoration everyone else had.
As she finished letting out the long and exhausting cry,
she felt a sudden strong tingling
sensation run over her body..

She suddenly transformed into a unicorn girl...
She bore the horn of a unicorn and the ears of an animal upon her head.
She was a beautiful girl with peach skin and long golden orange and white
hair that laid on her shoulders and fell to her lower back. She smiled as her
bright blue eyes looked at her newly formed body. She was filled with excitement.
However, the transformation wasn't complete...

Before the moon had risen to the highest peak in the sky,
her horn and ears were replaced by a single bluebird who sat upon
her head and her orange clothing grew into a long sleeved gypsy
outfit complete with orange gloves and a long orange skirt.
She took the name Clara.
Clara the unicorn girl became a legend...
A unicorn who became a human and roamed everywhere during the night to
find her true love, but at dawn, she became a unicorn again until the following dusk.

"Darling, that story is about us, about our people, about everything!" Flynn said.
"What do you mean? Are we creatures who transform?" I asked him with a confused look.
"Yes, we are, but in time I will reveal to you exactly what we are.
I just don't want to scare you or hurt you, if you are willing, I will show
you a vision of us in the future of how we are. Do you want to see?" he asked.

"Yes, I do want to. Just promise me, you will explain what it is when I see it," I begged.
"Of course, my love! You will know it all," he reassured me.

He grabbed my backside and pulled me in for a kiss and a vision began as we closed our eyes...
At first it was all black, but eventually the scene became clear...
It shocked me at first...

                     Flynn had wings...
Great golden feathers flowed from his back...
And whiskers, ears, and a tail...
I had a beak and feathers sprouting from my face...
I had a set of cat-like ears on my head...
and beige wings upon my back and a matching tail...

As the vision disappeared, I heard one word, "Guardian."
When I came to, Flynn was smiling at me as I stared back in a daze.
I was in so much shock that I had passed out after Flynn opened his eyes.
He held onto me with all his might and waited until I woke up.

"What does 'Guardian' mean?" I asked him in confusion.
"We are some of the last Griffins, guardians of the old and mysterious.
You are only part Griffin because your mother is a dragon, thus you
saw the feathers and beak on your face. I am full Griffin because my
parents were direct descendants of one of the first to guard the stories
and knowledge of the past. However, I am not royal as you are...," he explained.

"ROYAL?" I gasped.

"Yes my love! You are from the royal Griffin bloodline! Your father
is a king! That is why you were stolen by Daron! He wanted to stop
the last of the Griffin royal bloodline, but he failed. Don't worry, you
are safe now! That is why Damion is never to be with you, he is only
on part of the future races, even then he is a centaur... they are not
highly sought after, but highly respected for their intelligence and grace.
BUT a half human, half centaur... it's disgraceful!" Flynn exclaimed.
"Now my darling, are you okay? Do you have any other questions?" he asked.
"When do we transform? Will it hurt? Should I be afraid? I feel scared," I asked.
"Not for sometime, but don't fret, we shall together, relax my sweet...," he replied.

As a faint breeze blew, I saw his eyes glow and mine began to reflect
a bright blue in his when we stood in each other's presence that afternoon...

Soul Mates

At a time when I was at my wits end, when I was in pain and dying inside,
I thought I was just going to fade away and be left to fend for myself the
rest of my life, at least until the night when a miracle happened...
I won't ever forget the time that my prayers were answered in an
instant. My life changed forever after this point all because of...

FLYNN.

Even though I was depressed and frustrated after what happened with
Damion, my mind stopped suddenly and I felt calm and mesmerized.

I stood there watching the handsome young man in front of me.
His light blue hair glowed in the moonlight as his vibrant fuchsia
and aquamarine eyes glistened when he smiled at me.

Finally I snapped out of being mesmerized and waved at him.
"Hey, how'd you get here? Is this for real?
I am in a bit of a shock," I asked him.
He smiled at me and chuckled.

I leaned toward him as he began to speak in a deep toned voice,
"Yes, this is real darling, Joviana. I am Flynn Conway and I have
traveled through time and space to find you." At that point, my mouth fell open.

"It sounds unbelievable, but it's true. We are from the future, hun, both of us.
And you are mine. I am yours. As I told you in your dreams, I am your soulmate.
You shall never be alone again! I am not like that person who left you! Damion?" he said.

My head felt light and I wanted to faint. He knew about Damion?
He came from my dreams? WE are from the future?

So many questions, so many things went through my head.
"I see you are speechless. That's okay, I expected that. Don't worry
I am not going to hurt you and please do ask questions... I came here
to help you, guide you, be by your side, and be your companion," he smiled.

"I only have one thing to ask, why is all this happening?" I asked.
"Oh, well when you were young, you were taken from your parents
and they asked me to find you. I spent most of my childhood studying
how to time travel and I was able to connect to you through your dreams.
We are soulmates as I said before. We have a connection only seen in
a realm not visible by anyone else," he replied with a huge grin.

"So Daron took me away? How?" I asked as I started looking concerned.
"Time machine. He used a time machine. However, it's destroyed
and his son is to thank for that, but Damion also killed someone we
respected in our realm who got sick and got caught in this time," he answered.

"But Damion is going to get that sickness when he is older. What was it?
And is it because he killed her and her son?" I frowned.

"It's an illness that's genetic. She's his mother...," he said with a serious face.
"HIS MOTHER?!" I gasped, "Oh my gosh. Seriously?! That's insane!"
"It's true. She was here because his father traveled to the future. Daron
brought her and later on brought you. He was obsessed with time travel.
The other child was her younger son, Damion's brother. When Damion
found out, he was in so much shock that he overreacted and blew up
everything. Later on he will regret it and he will grow weaker with illness.
He holds his own fate in his hands," Flynn explained and took a deep sigh.
"Now darling, I have something I need to show you about us.
Are you willing to enter the dream realm with me? Please?" he asked.
"Okay, I trust you. What do you want me to do?" I sighed.
"Close your eyes."

As I began to close my eyes, I felt his hands touching mine and he
grasped my wrists and placed my hands upon his wrists. His skin
was cool to the touch. I smiled as a vision started to become clearer.

At first, Flynn, an older version of himself, appeared distraught and
concerned, but as the vision came into focus, I realized he was sad
and worried because something had happened to me who was sitting
on the floor shielding myself from something.
I was struggling and crying. I could sense immense fear, but it wasn't
from being hit or attacked or even anything done by Flynn. I was afraid
of myself... but how could that be? Myself? What had I done?

I laid down on the floor, dressed in only underclothes, as Flynn inched
toward me. He was dressed in shorts and nothing else. He was concerned
about me and only wanted to help me. I could see the fear dripping from his brow.

Suddenly the scene changed to Flynn standing with a terrified
expression on his face. He was extremely frightened and felt helpless.

I had staggered to my feet, but the pain was overwhelming and
I grasped the air for support of any kind.

The scene changed quickly once again.
I was facing away from Flynn as he rubbed his neck.
He was frustrated...
I was ignoring him...
I started to talk to myself and wave my hands around.
Flynn turned toward me as I mumbled and rambled on.

And before I knew it, as I turned around, Flynn was behind me.
I could feel his breathe against my neck and he nuzzled my soft skin.
He pulled me close to him as he leaned against my shoulder.
I stopped crying and took in a deep breath.

I let the last tears run down my cheeks as he held me close.
My eyes suddenly began to glow and I felt an overwhelming
peace run over my body as we stood there in the silence.
Was this the connection that he said we had?
It felt like it...

The connection of soulmates...
A connection only felt by those
who are joined by the stars, by their fates.
A feeling between souls that is shared as long as they are together...
Time passed slowly as we spent our lives together.
However, it was just the beginning...
the beginning of my life...
forever...
with...
Flynn.
